Solo is a thoroughbred event horse, belonging to Tilly’s friend Brook. When Tilly enters her first Pony Club competition, she helps Brook and Solo to calm their nerves, and makes an amazing discovery…

        The first obstacle was an upright. Brook and Solo looked totally focussed and unruffled as they approached it. Solo was beautiful to watch. His rhythm and balance were effortless. He hopped over the high gate as if it was nothing. He reminded Tilly of the amazing horses she had seen at the Olympia Horseshow.
        Finally, they came to the combination. It wasa triple, involving an oxer, an upright and another parallel. Tilly had seen combinations like this on television and always thought they looked difficult. As Brook and Solo made the approach, she held her breath, grabbed hold of her horsehair bracelet and sent him good thoughts.
