I'll be signing copies of my brand new Tilly's Pony Tails book, Pride and Joy, at Badminton, over the weekend of 1st / 2nd May. I'll be at the following stands:

• World Horse Welfare stand
• Pony Magazine stand
• Equestrian Book Fairs stand

Do look out for me and come and say hello; I love meeting as many readers as I can, and hearing what you think of the books.

I'm also very excited about an amazing competition that my friends at the Pony Club are running. The winner will get to appear as a character in one of my Tilly's Pony Tails books - how cool is that?!  Visit the Pony Club stand (number 142) to pick up a leaflet with all the information.

Newsletter - 7th January 2010

Happy New Year to you all! I hope you (and your ponies) had a brilliant Christmas.

Snowy weather can be great fun, but it is really important that your horses are well looked after in the cold winter weather. Make sure your pony has enough water, and break the ice daily when you check your pony. The larger the water trough, the easier it is to break the ice. It's also a good idea to have 2 rugs, so that if one gets wet you have another to use while the wet one dries out. Keep a change of clothes at the yard too, in case you get completely soaked while out on your pony.

2010 is off to a great start for me. I've been really busy writing the latest book in the Tilly series, Solo the Super Star, which is out now, and is the story of Tilly's first competition. Click here for a sneak preview or to buy a copy.

Just before Christmas I enjoyed a fantastic day at the Olympia Horse Show with 5 lucky winners of the PONY magazine competition to spend the day with me. You can see more pictures from the day here. It was also great to meet all of you who came to have your books signed at the PONY stand. Keep checking the website for details of my next signing; I love meeting as many of you as possible and hearing what you think of the books.

If you think your friends would enjoy reading Tilly's Pony Tails or receiving all the latest news from me, why not send them this newsletter so that they can join the Tilly's Pony Tails club? It's really easy, just click here to send this newsletter to a friend.

There's lots to do on the website - Loads of activities in the clubroom that you can print off and do together, including a brilliant new bookmark to make and colour. Also check out the showroom to see whether you and your pony are pictured this month.

You could even start your own mini club and get your friends round for an afternoon of Tilly activities; email me at tilly@orionbooks.co.uk and tell me all about your own Tilly clubs.

See you next time!

Isn't autumn a busy time of year? I've been doing loads of riding and writing, which has been brilliant. It's a truly beautiful season to be out and about, but the nights are drawing in, so do make sure that you are clearly visible on the road if you are out riding when it gets dark.

I'm so excited that Tilly's latest adventure, Lucky Chance: the New Foal, is in the shops now!

It's an exciting time for Tilly as she looks forward to going to Pony Club Camp and meets the new foal born at Silver Shoe Farm. Click here to sneak a look at the first chapter, or to buy a copy now!

I always have loads of projects on the go! Right now I'm looking for photos to use in a new book and I'd love to have some pictures of your horses. It's still top secret, but if you think your horse would make a good celebrity, click here to find out more...

Don't forget, you can come and get your Tilly books signed at the Olympia Horse Show. I'll be at the PONY and Horse and Rider stand [no. G.30] on Saturday 19th December at 5pm. Find out how to book tickets for the show at www.olympiahorseshow.com

There's loads of cool new stuff on the website. You can download new activity sheets, read my new Q&A, get a sneak peak at the next book (coming January 2010) or see if you have made it into the showroom. Why not send this this email to a friend and have double the fun?

Newsletter - 14th September 2009

I've just come back from the Burghley Horse Trials, and was thrilled that two of my young horses took first and second places in the five-year-old Young Event Horse final. Billy Be Cool won the class, and stable-mate Billy Beware took second place, so it was a double celebration.

As if that wasn't enough excitement for one week, the latest book in the Tilly's Pony Tails series, Samson the Stallion, is out now!

The book is set just before Christmas, and everyone at Silver Shoe Farm is excited about the Olympia Horse Show - especially Tilly. It's a chance to see some of the top show jumpers in the world, as well as some wonderful displays. Then, at Olympia, a chance encounter with Samson, a highly-strung stallion, means that Tilly's special gift with horses is in demand. I can't wait for you to read it - you can buy a copy here

To celebrate the publication of Samson the Stallion, we've teamed up with PONY magazine, to give 5 lucky readers the chance to join me at the Olympia Horse Show in December, and watch the show with me. The competition closes on 30th September, so be quick and grab your copy of PONY magazine today to find out how to enter! (Terms and Conditions apply. See PONY magazine September issue for details)

Don't worry if you're not one of the lucky winners - I'll also be signing books at the PONY and Horse & Rider magazine stand (stand G30) at Olympia, on Saturday 19th December at 5pm, so I'll be able to meet as many of you as possible and sign your Tilly books.  To book tickets for the show go to www.olympiahorseshow.com

There are loads of cool new things to do and see at www.tillysponytails.co.uk this month, including new pictures of you and your horses in the showroom, and a sneak peak of the next book in the series, Lucky Chance, which is published in November. Lastly, don't forget you can send this this email to a friend so that they can see the site and receive my newsletters too.

Happy reading!

I hope you are enjoying the summer holidays as much as I am! I've been very busy training and attending shows and events, it's been a really busy summer. This weekend, I'll be competing at the Hartpury Horse Trials with three of my horses, Redesigned, Jackson D'Allez and Sporting Hero. It's Sporting Hero's first 3-day event, so I'm hoping he won't be too nervous.

After that, the next big event I'll be attending is the Burghley Horse Trials in September, where I'll be competing with four home-bred horses in the Young Event Horse Final. It's always a fantastic atmosphere at Burghley, and one of the highlights of the year.

Do keep an eye out for my very special horse-box: it has the Tilly logo painted on the back, so you'll be sure to know it's me!  If you see us on the road or at an event, why not email tilly@orionbooks.co.uk and tell us where you spotted it?

If you would like your friends to join the Tilly's Pony Tails Club, you can send them this email by clicking here. They'll be able to join the club and access all the games, activities and sneak peaks of my new books just like you!

The weather is warm and the summer holidays are nearly here! It's a lovely time of year for spending time outdoors, but do remember that both you and your pony need to be extra careful in the heat. Keep reading for my Top Tips for taking care of your pony in the hot weather.

I'm so excited that my new book, ROSIE: The Perfect Pony is out in the shops now! If you can't wait to get your copy, you can read an extract here.

As a member of the Tilly's Pony Tails Club, you can access all the cool games and activities in the CLUBROOM. This month we've got a brand new game called Perfect Pony, as well as book reviews by readers just like you. Just go the CLUBROOM and sign-in with your email address.

The next book in the series, SAMSON, will be published in September, just in time for going back to school. If you can't wait until then, you can read a sneak preview here!

Have you sent a picture into our SHOWROOM yet? I love receiving all your pictures, and we show as many as we can each month. Check out the SHOWROOM to see who has been sending in snaps this month!

Before I go, here are my Top Tips for taking care of your pony in the hot weather.

• When the weather is hot it's essential to offer a continuous supply of fresh, cool, clean drinking water in a suitable water trough or bucket.

• On really hot days I turnout my horses at night and keep them in the stables during the day, to allow them to avoid the flies and the heat. If you don't have stables, then do make sure you have shade or shelter available for your pony to allow them to get out of the sun.

• Flies can be a constant bother to your pony, so make sure you have a good fly repellent and mask.

• If your pony is hot from exercising, it is really important they have a thorough cool down. Use a hose or sponge with cool water, and then scrape them dry, as any remaining water can heat up very quickly in this weather, making them hot again. Repeat this a few times until your pony has cooled down.

Look out for next month's newsletter, and don't forget to tell your friends about The Tilly's Pony Tails Club.

See you next time!

Badminton Diary - Saturday 9th May 2009

I arrived at the Badminton Horse Trials on Friday afternoon as I wasn’t competing this year. It felt very odd going there without a horse, but I have to admit the good thing was not feeling horribly nervous on Friday night in anticipation of Saturday’s cross country day.

I stayed with my greatest friends, Tina Cook and Antoinette McKeowen, in Tina’s horsebox, so we had a really good girlie catch up. It was the first time for many years that none of us were riding there.

Saturday started with book signings of MAGIC SPIRIT and RED ADMIRAL on the World Horse Welfare Stand. I am one of their trustees and support them whenever I can, so when they asked to host a signing I was delighted. It was a huge relief that there was a constant flow of fans wanting signed copies of the first two TILLY’S PONY TAILS – to the extent that we sold out!

While we were there we encouraged everyone to sign a petition and listen to what the girls from World Horse Welfare had to say. Full credit to them, they do a fantastic job; anything to stop suffering and cruelty towards horses is essential.

The next signing was at lunchtime. After spending the morning supporting fellow competitors on the cross country I headed to the Equestrian Book Fair stand where a queue had already formed. We had some of the sales and publicity team handing out bookmarks and the books were flying off the stand.

The last signing of the day was in the same place and once the final rider had completed the cross country we all raced to the stand from different parts of the Badminton grounds to find even more people waiting. The queues kept growing and I signed for ages!

It was great to meet so many young fans and see you all so excited about my new books. I hope that you are enjoying the stories, posting pictures on the site and enjoying learning more about Tilly and horses too.

See you next time!
